We often do a lot of mistakes on the road while riding a motorcycle and you can learn lessons by watching your past rides. often I sometimes watch my previously recorded videos to know what I did, where should I had to break and where not, how to create better, how much to learn, etc, etc. You can learn a lot of things after watching your recent motorcycle ride.

You can be the best Moto vlogger in your area! who knows!!
Safety And Documentation
last but not least, the safety documentation. I don’t know what others do, I use my GoPro action camera for safety and evidence. While riding a motorcycle a lot of things can happen on the road! if you have the Gopro mounted on Gopro then you will have evidence that you are innocent, and it will be very easy for a lawyer to handle any cases related to an accident or impact.
Types of GoPro Helmet Mounts
Let’s know about different types of GoPro helmet mounts.
Adhesive Mounts
GoPro Flat + Curved Adhesive Mounts
Removable
Waterproof
This Type Mounts are one of the safest and it is very easy to mount to a motorcycle or bike helmet. This Adhesive mounts are of two types in general one has a flat surface structure, and another one is curved. based on the type of helmet you have you have to choose. This type of mount can be attached to a helmet, tank, or mirror. It’s very easy to use and you can remove it by applying heat.
Strap Mounts
If you don’t want to add any adhesive to your motorcycle helmet, then this is the best GoPro helmet mount available. This type of mount is for those who don’t want to do any modifications to their motorcycle helmets. The installation of the Gopro Helmet chin strap is very easy and you can remove it easily. I personally use this chin strap on one of my helmets! because I didn’t want to damage my expensive helmet.
Chin Strap Mounts
Helmet Chin Mountย
This is one of the safest GoPro mounts for an Amotorycle helmet. You can see in the above image how it looks after attaching it to a motorcycle helmet. the installation is very simple, but it may cover your helmet vents. So, before getting one, take a look at your motorcycle helmet, whether it’s blocking the vents or not. the cons of this mount are the look! it looks bad! but your GoPro will be hard and stable during rides. Also, you can attach a chin mount to your helmet chin area, then you will have to use an extender to mount your GoPro camera.
Mount Using M-Seal
M-Seal
I’m using an M-seal mount on my helmet, currently, I own 3 helmets, one is having strap mount, the second one with an M-Seal mount, and another one is without any mount. The main advantage of using an m seal mount is GoPro safety. The mount will be so strong and there will be no chance of falling your action camera by chance during rides.
The installation is very simple, you have to clean the helmet surface where you want to install the mount. Then you have to mix the m seal compound very well and apply it to your helmet area. After that, you need to attach Gopro mount to the applied area. Wait till it dries. then it will be rocking solid, you’re ready to mount your GoPro. The disadvantage of using an m seal mount is the look! it’s looks bad and it will be hard if you want to remove it later.
Factors to Consider Before Mounting a GoPro on a Motorcycle Helmet
Helmet Compatibility
There are different types of helmets available, and based on that you need to select the right mount for your motorcycle helmet. the GoPro weighs around 5.6 oz / 158 g! if you apply a mount that will add up to your helmet weight! so make sure you have a lightweight helmet.
If you have a full-face helmet then you can use any type of mount I mention above, I personally recommend adhesive mount or strap mount. if you have a modular helmet then an adhesive mount will be the only solution. if you have a dirt bike helmet then you can attach your GoPro to the top side of your helmet with an adhesive mount. So, basically, you need to find out by looking at your motorcycle helmet exactly which mount is suitable.
Mounting Location
now you have to decide what location is suitable for your motorcycle helmet to mount GoPro. if you want to moto vlog and create content then you can mount Gopro to the front section, it captures almost everything except the rearview. another best idea to mount a motorcycle helmet is the side area, this also works pretty well. if you have a 360 camera then the best idea will be on the side of your helmet or top, this will cover the entire area.
Stability and Durability
After using my GoPro with my motorcycle helmet for more about 2 years, I faced many difficulties. One of these is stability and durability. you need to make sure the mount you’re using is fitted perfectly. Otherwise annoying noise will generate during rides, I adapt to this! so, I am okay with it. If you want the best stability and durability then the chinstrap mount and the m seal mount works pretty well without any issue.
How to Mount a GoPro on a Motorcycle Helmet
Select the Right Mount Based On Your Helmet
- The first thing you need to do is select the right mount. As I explained above, based on that how to select the right mount for your motorcycle helmet.
- Now you have to clean the helmet surface where you want to mount the action camera. if you’re planning to use a strap mount then cleaning is not required.
- After cleaning the helmet surface remove the adhesive then attach it to the helmet, then press slightly. if you’re using a strap mount then you have to follow the there instruction or you can follow the below video.
- make sure the painting is correct and stable because you will not be able to change location frequently. if you’re using a strap mount then you can re-position very easily.
- Before going for a ride, test it first at home, attach GoPro to the mount, and walk around and see whether it’s fitted perfectly or not.
Things To Remember – Mounting a GoPro on a Motorcycle Helmet
Secure the Mount Properly
if you completed the GoPro helmet mounting process, then you have to make sure the mount is secure and fitted perfectly. because while riding a motorcycle the action camera will resist the wind, so, if you don’t secure the Gopro mount then it can fall to the ground while riding at a medium to high speed. so before going on any ride with GoPro on your helmet, make sure it’s mounted perfectly.
Avoid Blocking Vents or Visors
I guess you already have experience with helmet fogging up! I already explain here Helmet Visor Fogging Up? Here is How To Stop It. One of the main reasons for helmet fogging up is the blocking vent! make sure your mount is not blocking any vents! I accidentally install an M-seal GoPro mount to the front of my motorcycle helmet, where the vent is located! Since then my helmet has fogging issue! so, make sure you’re not blocking any vents of your motorcycle helmet.
Safety Consideration
Follow Local Laws and Regulations
Following local laws and regulations means adhering to the specific rules and guidelines set by the government, regarding the use of cameras or mounts on motorcycle helmets. These laws vary from one region to another and may include restrictions on the placement, size, or functionality of camera devices.
Use a Tether
The Tether is a strap or cord that can be attached to the camera to your motorcycle helmet. and in case of any falls or impact it will not fall, the tether will prevent the camera from falling off.
Assess the Risks
As I explained before, consider factors such as the added weight of the camera to the helmet. it may impact your balance or maneuverability, make sure your GoPro and the mount don’t obstruct your line of sight.
